Agreements with the Socialists?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p>Junqueras is not expected to significantly alter ERC\u2019s alliances with the Socialist Party (PSC), which have helped sustain Pedro S\u00e1nchez\u2019s government in Spain and Illa\u2019s administration in Catalonia. However, he has signalled a tougher stance moving forward: \u201cThe Socialist Party must fulfil all its commitments. There will be no more agreements with those who fail to deliver. Perhaps this happened in the past\u2014more than it should have\u2014but it won\u2019t happen again,\u201d he declared on Saturday night.<\/p>\n\n<p>The newly elected secretary general, Elisenda Alamany, who leads ERC in Barcelona\u2019s City Council, is expected to strengthen the party\u2019s position in local governance. At just eight years old, he embraced the cause while other children dreamt of becoming footballers.
